Prototype 1 - CO•A•LESCE

RE•CONSTRUCTIVIST 2021

Woolwise - Australian Wool Education Trust Grant recipient of $2,000 towards wool textiles.

This project examines how specific fashion design interventions can reshape consumer behaviour to reduce over-consumption. Mixing modular, adaptive, and incremental change design strategies with a dash of whimsy.

Using behavioural insights to inform the design process which allows the wearer to participate in the curation and evolution of their own look, bolstering emotional durability and reducing the wearers desire to over-consume. The pieces are imbued with whimsy which has been inspired by Polish folk art and costume.

This prototype is split down the centre front and back giving the ability to adjust the lengths by ruching with alternating snap attachment. Swapping out halves or sections to change the look - all pieces are reversable.

Rust coloured puff sleeve of 100% wool crepe and half long skirt backed with denim wool/silk blend, hand-woven recycled wool/denim/sari silk half blazer and sleeve attached with snaps to foil coated merino felt with embroidered flower motif.
